1 corinthians 8:3But if one loves God truly [[a]with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [[b]recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him].
Our purpose is to truly love and serve our God so that He knows our name and our lives on earth. To receive the title that God is well pleased with us is a title that we should all strive for in our lives, no matter the religion, view, or denomination.
What is important here is the definition of truly: affectionate reverence, prompt obedience and grateful recognition of His blessing. Reverence: profound adoring awed respect – the respect that you would give your family, teacher, boss…someone of high character that you are striving toward. Obedience: submission to command of authority. He is our God, He reigns over the Earth and everything that was made. Recognition: to give thanks when given.
If you put all three of these together, it reflects what a Christian walk should be. We are to reverence His presence in our EVERYDAY life, be obedient to the instruction that He gives us as His children, for He knows best for our safety and direction, and recognition for the blessings He bestows upon us each day. Just the fact that we are breathing, eating, healthy, have family, friends, etc are all blessings that we sometimes take for granted but that He gives us new with mercy each morning.
But our reward is so much higher than the sacrifice that we do each day. It is to be KNOWN and loved by the Lord of the universe. To have Him love, discipline, and know us intimately so that every need of ours is to be met because we are in a relationship with Him. That is pretty amazing to be known personally by the Lord of all heaven and earth. The One who created the trees, ocean, land, animals, humans…knows ME. I wake to meet Him and seek His face so that my will is more of Him and less of me. That we can commune together each day and I can learn about my Father and He can love on His daughter. That is pretty awesome and often baffles my mind. The Lord, our God wants to know me, wants to provide for me, wants to love me, died for my sins, and still is a part of my life.
